In her youth, Moran Samuel was already a member of the Israel National Basketball Team. At the age of 24, she suffered an outbreak of a congenital spinal blood vessel condition that rendered her paralyzed in her lower body. Moran did not give up on her love of sports and only three years after her spinal stroke she attended her first practice with the woman’s national wheelchair basketball team. In a short time, she became one of the Israel’s outstanding players. In 2010, Samuel began training for rowing in the single scull competition, and 11 years later she held two Paralympics medals. In 2017, she was invited to light the Maccabiah torch. Today she is chair of the Women’s Leadership Committee of the Maccabi World Union.
