In the summer of 2021, the names Linoy Ashram and Artem Dolgopyat became familiar to Israelis throughout the country as well as to millions of people around the world because of their historic achievements in the Tokyo Olympics when they each took home gold medals. Ashram and Dolgopyat had already astonished many at the 20th Maccabiah, which also hosted the Israeli championships in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics. Both gymnasts won a number of medals and achieved international standing.
