Maccabiah Opening Ceremony - July 14th, 2022
The 21st Maccabiah:
Hanan Ben Ari, Static & Ben El, Eden Ben Zaken and Tamir Grinberg will perform at the opening ceremony
Hanan Ben Ari, Static & Ben El, Eden Ben Zaken and Tamir Grinberg will perform at the opening ceremony of the 21st Maccabiah, which will be held at the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem on July 14th with 30,000 spectators. The event will be attended by the President, Prime Minister and leading figures, as well as honored guests from around the world. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Channel 12.
The singer and creator Hanan Ben Ari will perform during the lighting of the Maccabiah flame. The top Israeli singers, Static & Ben El will sing their biggest hits, including the official Maccabiah song "Carnival", which was written and composed by Static, Yarden ‘Jordi’ Peleg and Ron Biton. One of the leading Israeli singers, Eden Ben Zaken, will perform a new and updated adaptation of Yehoram Gaon’s song, "You Won’t Defeat Me", and the winner of Rising Star, Tamir Grinberg, will perform his song "Tell Me Where the Light Goes", as well as a special version of the song "Memories" by Maroon 5, in honor of the Jewish sports heroes throughout history.
The 21st Maccabiah opening Event is expected to be spectacular and moving, and will include a rich artistic performance featuring hundreds of dancers and pyrotechnics. In addition, there will be the traditional delegations' parade with 10,000 athletes from 60+ countries participating in the Maccabiah as well as the traditional lightning of the Torch that symbolizes the beginning of the games. The ceremony is led by the director Shilo Galai and the production company Innovision.
The event will be attended by the President of the United States, the president of Israel, Prime Minister and other dignitaries.
Tickets will be on sale on 7th June at the Maccabiah website.
The 21st Maccabiah is the largest Jewish Zionist Sports event and the second largest international event after the Olympics. The Maccabiah takes place once every four years in Israel and is attended by Israeli and Jewish athletes from around the world. 10,000 athletes from 60+ countries will be attending the Maccabiah, which will begin on 12th July for two weeks. The athletes will compete in dozens of different sports, and thousands of supporters, fans, and tourists will arrive especially to the Maccabiah. As part of the Maccabiah there will be dozens of sporting events throughout the country. These are open to the general public and will take place under the slogan of ‘Israel Celebrates Sports.’ In addition, there will be a range of social events, offering a unique and unforgettable experience for the participants.
